Reverse Search

Reverse Search flips the standard hiring workflow. Instead of searching for candidates that fit a job, you start from a candidate and let Skima AI surface the jobs they are best suited for across your open roles.

This helps recruiters match strong candidates to relevant positions quickly, especially when a candidate does not apply directly or when you want to make better use of your existing talent database.

  1. Click 'Candidates' from the left sidebar.
  2. Browse the candidate list. Use the search bar or filters to locate the specific candidate you want to run a Reverse Search for.
  1. Click the three-dots Actions menu on the candidate's row.
  2. Select 'Show Relevant Jobs'.

Skima AI will scan your open jobs and return a ranked list of matches for that candidate. The Relevant Jobs modal opens showing each matched job with its

  • Job Title,
  • Score,
  • Minimum Experience,
  • Company Name, and
  • Location.

The AI Matching Score shows how closely the candidate's profile aligns with each role based on their skills, experience, and location. Higher scores indicate a stronger fit.

  1. In the Relevant Jobs modal, review the matched roles and select the checkbox next to the job that best fits the candidate.
  2. Click 'Link to jobs' at the bottom right of the modal to confirm.

The candidate is now linked to the selected job and will be immediately screened and scored against that job's description.

Tip

Once a candidate is linked to a job, you can track the linked job, update the application status, or unlink them at any time by clicking the Linked Jobs count on the candidate's row. Each linked job shows its current application status and has a three-dots menu with Update Status and Unlink from this Job options.

Info

Reverse Search works best when your jobs have well-written Job Descriptions with clear requirements. The more detailed the JD, the more accurate the AI match scores will be. Refer to the Create Job guide for best practices on writing effective Job Descriptions.

Automate Reverse Search for New Candidates

For teams that upload candidates regularly, Skima AI can automatically link each new candidate to the most relevant open job without manual intervention.

  1. Navigate to 'Settings' from the left sidebar.
  2. Go to 'Preferences' and click on 'General'.
  3. Toggle on 'Automatically link the candidate to an appropriate job when a new candidate is uploaded'.

Once enabled, every candidate uploaded to Skima AI will be automatically matched and linked to the most suitable open job based on their profile and the available Job Descriptions.

Note

The automatic linking uses the same AI matching logic as manual Reverse Search. Candidates are linked to the job with the highest relevance score at the time of upload. If this toggle is not visible in your workspace, reach out to support@skima.ai or book a demo to enable it.

Tip Use automatic linking when you are running high-volume uploads or batch importing candidates from an ATS. It removes the need to manually review and link each profile individually. You can always update or unlink job associations from the Candidates page afterward.

Verify and Manage the Linked Candidate

Once a candidate is linked to a job, you can track and manage their progress from two places.

From the Candidates Page

  1. Navigate to 'Candidates' from the left sidebar and search for the candidate by name, email, or phone.
  2. Click on the Linked Jobs count in their row.
  3. The Linked Jobs modal opens showing each job the candidate is associated with, along with their current application status and AI score for that role.

From the Jobs Page

  1. Navigate to 'Jobs' from the left sidebar and open the job the candidate was linked to.
  2. Use the 'View Candidates' tab and search for the candidate by name in the search bar to pull up their profile directly.

Alternatively, use the 'View Kanban' tab and search for the candidate there. From the Kanban view you can drag the candidate between hiring stages, update their application status, or reach out to them directly.

Any further actions such as scheduling interviews, adding notes, or sending communication can all be taken from inside the job workspace.

Info

The Jobs section gives you the most complete set of actions for a linked candidate. Refer to the Tabs and Filters guide for a full breakdown of everything available inside the View Candidates and View Kanban tabs.
